LEWISBURG — A new grant will help equip WellSpan Evangelical Community Hospital’s future cancer center, bringing more cancer treatment closer to home. Hospital officials say the $55,000 grant will purchase infusion chairs for patients receiving treatment.
The funding comes from the Ralph and Josephine Smith Fund at the First Community Foundation Partnership of Pennsylvania. WellSpan says medical oncology and infusion services are expected to begin this fall.
A comprehensive cancer center offering medical oncology, infusion and radiation oncology services is expected to open in spring 2027. Hospital President Allen Fasnacht says the investment will help provide cancer care closer to patients’ families and support systems.
