LEWISBURG — Service providers in Union and Snyder counties warn stalled state and federal budgets are pushing critical programs toward collapse. The Standard Journal was at a roundtable where agency leaders said funding delays are triggering hiring freezes, borrowing, and mounting waiting lists for everything from senior meals to early learning.
Standard Journal reports, some groups report cash flow gaps of hundreds of thousands of dollars, while others are already turning clients away. They urged residents to call legislators, warning that the safety net is fraying and thousands could lose access to food, housing, childcare, and care for the elderly unless budgets are passed soon.
