FREEBURG — Solar panels near Freeburg are the topic of an upcoming meeting.
Freeburg-area residents are encouraging the public to attend a meeting about a planned Brookfield Renewable solar project. The meeting is from 6 to 7pm at the Freeburg Community Center.
Residents say the project would place solar panels about 300 feet from Freeburg’s public wells and water treatment plant. They want Brookfield to post a financial bond protecting the water supply from potential problems.
Organizers say the bond would ensure the company covers future costs instead of local taxpayers. Residents may learn about the project, ask questions and voice concerns. The meeting is open to everyone, including people living outside Freeburg and Washington Township, Snyder County.
