DANVILLE — A pause on rezoning is now in place as commissioners review future land-use rules.
The Montour County Commissioners imposed an 180-day moratorium on any zoning revisions. They say the halt is needed because current ordinances don’t address data or tech-focused industries.
They say those industries will be covered in their forthcoming revised comprehensive plan. It also gives citizens more opportunity to comment on the comprehensive plan revisions.
The move comes as Talen Energy seeks rezoning near the Montour Steam Electric Station to clear the way for a data center. There is a zoning board meeting and a commissioners public meeting expected in December. A group of residents attended ’s meeting to voice concerns about the proposed data center.
