Full SNAP Benefits Restored After Federal Shutdown Ends
HARRISBURG — Pennsylvanians received their full November SNAP benefits less than a day after the US government shutdown ended. State officials say DHS had prepared for the restart and began issuing payments immediately once guidance arrived from the USDA.
More than $276 million in food assistance went out on alone, in addition to $70 million issued earlier in the month. DHS Secretary Val Arkoosh says staff worked tirelessly to restore benefits quickly. Emergency SNAP is also resuming for approved applicants, and December benefits will be issued on schedule. More information is available at the DHS website.
