Mark Lawrence
- Eagle 107 Headline Updates
Mark has 20 years experience in broadcasting. He's has lived in
Sunbury, State College, and in the Philadelphia area. Mark's radio
'Career' began when, as a young fellow, he knew several people who
worked at WKOK AM/FM in Sunbury. Mark would ride his bike or walk to
the studios in The Fort Augusta museum and would hang out while they
were on the air.
Mark's first job in radio was at WTGC - AM in Lewisburg. After
graduation from high school, he started as an automation minder,
national and local newsreader and did some production. That's when
he began to make news calls, go to meetings and started learning
about local news. Mark left this job to go to Penn State, but worked
there during one summer while in college. His next full time job
came in 1983 in Bloomsburg at WHLM AM/FM. He was the afternoon news
anchor, going to many meetings and reporting on many events... In
1987, Mark became News Director at WKOK/WQKX in Sunbury and stayed
there until December of 1996 when he joined Clear Channel in
Williamsport.
In February of 2001, Mark returned to Sunbury Broadcasting
Corporation. He currently is anchoring the morning newscasts on the
Rock 'N Roll Morning Show, as well as anchoring and reporting on
Newsradio 1070 WKOK and 94KX. Mark enjoys reading newspapers, riding
bike, walking, hunting and fishing. He's also a handyman and enjoys
house painting and other similar work. Mark and his wife live in
Northumberland and have a pesky cat named 'Paws.' |

Matt Farrand
- News Director
Born in New York City but raised
upstate, WKOK's Matt Farrand calls Geneva (NY) his hometown. Matt
remembers, "I grew up pretty much on the campus of Hobart and
William Smith College. The radio station was one of my hang-outs as
a nine or ten year old. The college kids let me watch them do their
things on the air. When the second hand of the clock on the studio
wall would hit "12," and one of the guys would start delivering the
news or sports… Well, it left a big impression." Later, as a high schooler, Matt was transfixed by news, sports, and talk radio on the
big clear channel AM stations of the day.
Matt's career of
nearly thirty years in radio news and other media in began upstate
and progressed from there. He has been motivated primarily by the
goal of, "…making everything I put on the air resonate with the
listener. The man or woman listening should have no doubt that what
they're hearing is clear and of importance to them." Matt has also
done news in Texas (KFRO Longview), news and public affairs for WMCA
New York, local cable television news (News 12 Long Island), wrote
business news for the Financial News Network and written for a
number of print publications. His television career was additionally
highlighted by a five year stint as News Director for a small but
scrappy news department in New York's Southern Tier (WICZ-TV
Binghamton).
Matt continues, "My
career has also had periods where I have not been on the air,
selling retail running footwear and apparel and serving as a Sports
Information Director for a small four year college. These jobs have
helped me see more closely what motivates a wide variety of people,
what they like, how they communicate and what they aspire to.
Ultimately, it all helps me be a better radio reporter."
A competitive runner,
cyclist and triathlete since 1977, Matt has competed in more than 15
marathons and two Olympic distance triathlons. Moreover, he is
collecting notes for his personal memoirs, and is a frequent
contributor of articles about running, film reviews and ideas to
Lewisburg based Runners
Gazette. |

Ali Stevens
- Eagle 107 Headline Updates
Well, I was born and raised in Baltimore for the first 25 years, then I lived in Central Pennsylvania for 5, then Ocala, Florida for 1 and back to Baltimore for 2 more years. I moved back to Central PA in May of 2006 and live in Northumberland with my two daughters. As of June of 2006, Megan is 3 ½ and Cassidy is 10 months.
I started my career in radio back in 1997 at a small AM station in Aberdeen, Maryland, which is home to Cal Ripken Junior. After that, I came to Central, Pennsylvania and worked as a news anchor for WKOK and morning show co-host for 94 KX for several years, with a brief stint at WBRE in Wilkes-Barre. I then moved to Florida to do a morning show there and worked in Baltimore as a News Anchor and morning show co-host for a couple of years. Now, I’m back doing mornings on Drew and the Crew and mid-day anchoring on WKOK. I keep coming back to Central PA because I love the area. I love the scenery and the people and I feel completely happy when I’m here. I’m actively involved with the Children’s Miracle Network and love doing anything I can for children!
When I’m not on the radio, I am busy being the best mom I can be. When I’m not being mom, I enjoy reality television, sports, movies, taking walks and reading. I also have to admit that I love going out to eat and love sampling different kinds of wine. My favorite color is green, my dream car is a Jaguar (hunter green of course!) and I am a die-hard EAGLES FAN!!!! My favorite player is Brian Dawkins and I worship Donovan McNabb. On football Sunday’s, I don’t like to be bothered. If the Eagles loose, it’s not much fun to be around me on Monday’s either. The rest of the week is okay though, so feel free to call or email me anytime. |
